June 1 Dear friends, neighbors and family,

My lifelong dream of someday hiking the Grand Canyon has taken on new direction . Instead, I made the commitment for an exciting challenge to walk 60 miles in 3 days to raise money for breast cancer research. Since training began weeks ago, I feel stronger than ever and filled with amazing energy.

Cancer is so strong. It can overwhelm any of us. Our lives are filled with memories of those we love who have left us, those that have conquered the pain and are living each day with great joy and those who are suffering and fighting right now.

“Blessed are the women who share their hope, courage and constant love….
We celebrate their lives.”

Fundraising is new for me. I am walking because I can and I must in memory of Mickey and Patty and so many others. As I am writing this letter to you, tiny brilliant blue flowers carpet our paths. The lacey forget me nots are so delicate and weave amazingly strong roots. Like lace, our lives crochet tight patterns around us with family and friends and continue to loosely weave in wonderful acquaintances. The name “forget me not” is so precious as it means “to remember.”

The proceeds from the art items on the enclosure card will go directly to the Susan G. Komen Foundation, sponsor of the 3 day-60 mile walk for breast cancer from September 16-18 in St. Charles, Illinois. After I have reached my personal goal of $2100, donations will still be received at the gallery for the remainder of 2005 for that cause, Relay for Life and Ivy…our 10 year old niece who was recently diagnosed with acute leukemia.

August 1st is the deadline for reaching $2100 for the 3 day walk for breast cancer. Donations can be made on their website at: www.The3Day.org, a check made out to “Breast Cancer 3-Day” or at Dovetail Gallery.

To all of you who have supported me in so very many ways in the past, I want to express my heartfelt “thank you”. I am grateful for the wonderful response in the gallery and truly appreciate those of you who have already donated. Hugs to all of you for your prayers and encouragement.
